The harbour
Unique
Blakeney Harbour is, simply, unique. As a National Nature Reserve it offers unparalleled wild charm matched with enviable public access that in turn takes place side-by-side with the area’s traditional shellfish and fishing activities.
Vital
The harbour is the centrepiece of the local economy and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. From those who live and sail here to daytrippers enjoying the famous seal colony at Blakeney Point. Blakeney Harbour is the jewel in the crown.
Managed
It is the role of the Trustees, the Association's members (both individual and corporate) and its many donors to maintain a safe and managed environment for those who enjoy the water in and around the harbour. This is all done voluntarily.
Our charitable objects
Our charitable objects are contained in our constitution, they are:
Object 1
The maintenance, improvement, protection and conservation of Blakeney Harbour for the benefit of the public including all users of the Harbour and the communities of Blakeney, Morston, Stiffkey and Cley.
Object 2
The advancement of education through the provision of advice and information to the users of Blakeney Harbour and the communities of Blakeney, Morston, Stiffkey and Cley relating to the Harbour and its surrounding areas.
Object 3
The promotion of public safety and the prevention and deterrence of crime in and around Blakeney Harbour.
The membership of the Blakeney Harbour Association brings together all who share a common interest in maintaining, improving, protecting and conserving Blakeney Harbour. These include professional boatmen and boatwomen, other professional users, leisure sailors and boaters, local businesses, local residents and hundreds of thousands of visitors.
Together, our members create a strong and influential single voice, with an ambition to make the Harbour functional, safe and open for all to use and enjoy. Through the Association’s Fellowship of dedicated volunteers the BHA:
Navigation buoyage/lights/beacons and harbour maintenance
Helps keep the harbour safe
Provides information and education
Maintains the character of the harbour
Supports the local economy
